I started practicing yoga by accident…

I started practicing yoga by accident.

In 2015, I had burned out at my job and needed a change. I was hired by a popular athletic retail company, and they sponsored us to go to local fitness classes in the community. It was then that I walked into my first “hot yoga” class, and I became hooked. I truly had no idea what I was doing and where the yoga journey would take me.

Fast forward almost 10 years, I’ve left that job in the past but the practice of yoga, in its many forms, has always stayed with me. At times, my practice has been really consistent, and at other times it was very sporadic. But throughout all of the changes in my life, the practice of yoga has been there for me. My practice now looks vastly different than how it began, but that’s what makes it so meaningful to me.

One of my teachers, Seane Corn, has said “Yoga is the practice of coming home to yourself.” I know that no matter where I am in life (physically, emotionally, spiritually), the ancient practice of yoga will meet me exactly where I am, wherever I may land. It reminds me of my inner worth as I connect to myself through asana, meditation, breath and community. I am deeply honored to share the practice with students at @monarchyogaphl where I also took my 200 hr teacher training.

For almost 10 years, yoga has saved me time and time again. It allows me to be myself, to move and breathe with intention, and to connect to my inner light. It supports my nervous system, reminds me of my strength, and builds resilience as I take what I learn off the mat and into the world.
